  • Jack Davies is an improvising trumpet player and composer with a background in both jazz and classical music.

    After winning the Deutsche Bank Award for Performance and Composition in his final year at the Royal Academy of Music, Jack recorded three albums, which will be released on his new label, V&V Music, in 2012.

    These albums are debuts for three of his own projects: Flea Circus, Southbound and The Jack Davies Big Band (produced by Colin Towns and featuring Martin Speake, Nick Smart, Percy Pursglove, Josh Arcoleo, Mike Chillingworth and Joe Wright amongst others).

    As a sideman he has played with Colin Towns' Mask Orchestra, The London Jazz Orchestra and The Tom Taylor Octet, performing at venues across London including Ronnie Scott's and The Vortex.

    Having completed his classical studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Jack took up his place on the prestigious Jazz Masters course at the Royal Academy of Music.

    Whilst at college Jack won several awards, including the Royal Northern College of Music's solo brass competition, the Goronwy Evans Brass Prize, the Terence Greaves Prize for Big Band Composition and the Principal's Prize for Improvisation (a competition judged by Sir John Dankworth).

    Jack was also involved in writing music for the new Swiss Glockenspiel clock in Leicester Square with composer Django Bates.
